Logomatic Squaring With Diamond Wire Results In Lower COO

Diamond wire is coming up very strongly in the PV industry. Logomatic has developed a unique diamond wire to cut multi-crystalline ingots to bricks. The advantage is that there is less sensibility to go to the top and bottom where silicon carbide nests mainly affect the cut and cause wire breakage.

Mostly cutting time for one multi-crystalline ingot of 840 x 840 x 250 mm is around 4 hours and gives an excellent brick size quality. As diamond wire cuts rougher than slurry wire, the surface damage is a little bit higher but will be taken off in the following polish-grinding operation with a G&N brick grinder MPS 134:

“Diamond wire is still the most expensive point as shown in the calculation of cost of ownership. On the other hand, there is only a 50% of machine investment, as the Logomatic machine generally has the lowest price in the European market. A large factory space savings is an interesting side effect and no slurry management or waste management is necessary, thus also no personell and further side costs for it.”, says Logomatic´s CEO Gerhard Koennemann. He adds: “And environment costs are nearly GREEN ZERO.”

After an overall calculation, the brick cutting on Logomatic´s LQS diamond wire saw BRICKER results in lower cost of ownership for the customer.
